In these 2 chapters we met and got introduced to more people. These people were the two girls at the movie that they went to. They’re names were Marcia and Cherry, they were two of the Soc’s girlfriends. We also got to see who Dally is-an alcoholic rodeo guy.

      In these 2 chapters here is what happened:Two-Bit, Darry, Ponyboy, Johnny, Marcia, And Cherry all went to the movies. After the movies were done, Two-Bit had wanted to take the two girls home. When the Socs saw the two girls with the greasers as they called them, both of the boyfriends stepped out of the car and wanted to fight. Darry pulled a blade out, the two girls didn’t want to see them fight so they just went home with their boyfriends. Everyone went home except for Johnny and Ponyboy witch had gone to watch th e stars and had fallen asleep. When Ponyboy left and johnny had stayed, he got home and Darry yelled at him. Sodapop stuck-up for Pony boy, Darry started yelling at sosdapop, so Ponyboy started yealling at Darry for yelling at Sodapop. Then thats when it all happened Darry lost it and turned back face to face with Ponyboy and slapped him across the face so hard his hands went red. Pony boy started running back to the hill as Darry stepped outside and yelled “sorry!”. Ponyboy grabbed Johnny and he told him that they were running away. They stopped and decided that it wasnt a good ideaso, they went to the park for a bit. The Socs mustang was circling the park then they got out and started to try and give Ponyboy a bath in the fountai, they were drowning him. Johnny thought he had to something so he pulled out his blade and stabbed the guy that was drowning Ponyboy and also who had beat Johnny up. He was one of the two girls boyfriends. THey relized what they should do and that was to go Dally and get money anda gun. They went there and got the stuff and headed off to a small town and in a old church were nobody could find them but Darry.

     We read a book called “The outsiders“. It is a book that takes place in the older days. The greasers are the kind of guys that slick there hair back. The socs are the kind of richer people that in this case of the book like to beet the greasers up and are against greaser. This story was written by a girl that wrote this in college or high schooland her name was S.E. Hinton.

Some of the charters that I read that are in the first and second chapter are: Pony boy, Soda pop, Darry and there were more other guys but they weren’t mentioned much in the story. All those names were their nick names. Pony boy has long light-brown, almost-red hair, and  greenish-grey eyes. Soda pop is slim, but finely drawn,long, silky, straigt, and dark-gold hair, and dark brown eyes. Darry has braod shoulders, dark brown hair, pale blue green ice eyes, and looked tough.  Pony boy, Soda pop and Darry are aslo all brothers.

Our school hooked up with the grade 7 and 8’s from St.Elisabeth school from L.A. Both of the schools read the same stories The Veldt and The Bet. Both of them were pretty good in my thought. After both of the classes were done reading the stories we go put into groups. The groups were for the private chat site that we went on to so that we could discuss the questions.

All of use came put with good answers. Some of the groups were the same and some were different. I found that the Moodle chat was very interesting getting to know what the people in L.A. thought about the answer.  Also if you would like to check out those questions go to upload.    

 The Bet and the Veldt are similar in many different ways. Both of the books have to something with relationship and power. Power is shown in both of these stories. It is shown in the Veldt when the kids kill there parents because the parents let them take to much control. It is also shown in the Bet when the two of the guys thought that they could take control(another way of showing power) over each other. In both of the stories someone gets hurt because the parents got killed by the tigers and the guy the was in the jail cell wasted most of his life and that could have hurt him socially. Both of the stories were also written in the past.

There are some difference’s in the story. One of the difference’s is that one the Veldt is in the future and the Bet is in the past. The Veldt uses names to describe the charters and the bet uses what the person does like for ex: “The banker:”. The stories “The Bet” and “The Veldt” are different because then The Ve  ldt is more of an adventure story and scary, but The Bet is more of a think about it kind of story and a sort of a find it out by yourself kind of story.     

Mr. Fisher got us to read a story called the Veldt. If you haven’t read the Veldt it is about this family in the future that lives in a house that does everything they tell it to do. This house has a nursery in it but it isn’t the kind of nursery that has babies in it but it is almost like for the kids to play in. Since it is the future it is very high Tec. If you go into the nursery, what you think of is what it will appear to be. Almost as if you were there in that place. 3D kind of way but more real like as if you could smell the scent of that place and fell what was in it. But the mane point is that the kids were going in there and turning it into a veldt witch means a grass land with lions, zebras, giraffes and all of those wild things that could kill them. When the parents find out what they are doing in there they tell them to stop. The kids break in and are still in the veldt. As the parents are sleeping one night they here the kids scream. When they go downstairs to see what happened in the veldt. As they get in there the door closes. What was really happening to the kids was they were trying to teach them to kill the parents. The kids sit in the hallway watching their parents get ripped to shreds by the lions.

I think that if you want something you shouldn’t always get it because what is the use for buying something that you don’t need it will be spending money that you don’t have to spend. I also think if Adults don’t want to spend money on something like a bike for there kid when they are young they should buy them a cheap one and try to let the kids know that what they want isn’t what they always will get. The case in the story was that the parents let their kids have what they wanted and it went a little too over board when they tried to stop it.

If kids want everything they see and if the guardian of that child or children gives them what they want, I think that those kids won’t be very wanted when they are older. When the kids are older they will be stuck up and most likely bossy. Also if you give the kids and sometime adults what they want then they will think that they have control over you. Sometimes you have to stop giving stuff up and take more control (as in power). And what the parents did was let there kids do what they wanted and when they tryed to stop it the kids already new they had the power to keep getting what they wanted.

Relationship this one of the most important things that a family can have. in the story the kids and the family don’t have a good relationship because of the house witch wants to do everything witch takes the parents good. Like how the house ties the kids shoes, baths them, feeds them, and takes them around the house in the air tubes. The only people and things that had a relationship were the kids together and the house. But the parents didn’t like the house so they wanted to move out. And that is were the kids put a stop to it and took charge of the house and parents.
